Okay, so I been so busy I haven't been able to keep you guys updated. If I can, tonight I will post pictures and my short stories. This week, I attended this intro camp where I made friends from all over the globe. IT WAS SO COOL I HONESTLY DID NOT WANT TO COME BACK! No words can explain how I felt. But anyways, tonight I'll be finally moving in with my first host family! So there's a quick sum up. I'll come back later with more details. As for now, vi ses!

I completed my first week of school. I'd like to start off by saying that first day was pretty hard. I walked into the building and saw how everyone was with their friends and that made me realize how much I was going to miss mine back at home. The school was and looked very different. Most classes looked like hospitals rooms, and classes are like 3-4 periods. I'm taking English, Spanish, Religion, Psychology, Biology, Chemistry, History, and PE. Anyways, my classes are all in danish, except English and Spanish. Throughout the week I started making friends so that was a good feeling. However, it's just hard when your doing a group work and everyone speaking danish and they just leave you out of it. Lol. I CAN'T WAIT TO LEARN THIS LANGUAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I almost got lost.
Heres the story. So my friend and I planned to go watch a movie along with his bestfriend Emma. Well, since I really didn't want to bother my counselor for transportation I rode the bus for the very first time. You see, I been here for almost a week and I still don't know my way to the city or like the places in the city. So, Ramus and I planned to take the same bus. Well I got into the bus and I saw he wasn't there yet. At, the moment I was relaxed because I was like "oh we still need more stops". But after we passed the area of where he lived I started freaking out. I didn't have a phone and I didn't know anybody. We were getting farther from where we lived and I was like OH MY GOSH IM SO SCREWED. I know when we passed the Men of Sea I was already far from home. I didn't know what to do or where to get off the bus. I wanted to ask somebody if I could borrow their phone so I could contact my counselor, but I just sat in my seat since I was like far from everyone else. By this time my counselor knew Ramus wasn't on the bus because he texted her saying he missed the bus since their was a change plan. I still had no contact with anybody and the bus had made two stops. After the third stop I got off the bus, because I was afraid it was going to take me farther then where I was already at. So I got off the bus and walked passed a train station and then into the mall. I walked into burger king because I knew for sure there was going to be wifi. Once I was connected my snapchat was full of messages of my friend saying how sorry he was. I was like it's okay I'm okay, and then I contacted my counselor telling her I was at Burger King. The whole process was funny because everyone was panicking. I stayed calm most of the time, cause you know "a girl gotta do what a girl gotta do." Well, once I told everyone where I was at I sat there eating a burger waiting for my friend to come pick me up. Once he arrived he still came telling me how sorry he was! We got 2 vanilla ice cream and walked to the other side of the city to the movie theater. As we got their Emma was already waiting for us. So this small journey was one for the books! I also tried this danish drink, it was a mix of sprite and something else I can't remember. My friend Ramus, will be an exchange student as well. He will be leaving the 22nd to Michigan, USA! Yesterday morning I woke up to the sound of the dogs barking. I laid in bed scared to make a move. Each time they were getting louder and louder so I quickly ran to the door and locked it. For like a few seconds I started to laugh at myself because I was overreacting, I mean why would anyone in Denmark want to harm me? The thought didn't last long because I was then PANICKING! Like I kept thinking to myself either somebody is trying to get into the house, or somebody was already in the house. About 5 minutes passed and the dogs were still at it. I contacted my counselor who was working in Billund telling her about the dogs and how loud they were. It's funny to even type about it because the reason they were barking was because there was a man painting walls outside. I felt so relaxed when she told me that and that she had cameras around the house. I was like oh gosh thank goodness. I started cracking so much that tears were coming out of my eyes. It was such a way to start a morning. I then went downstairs to make me breakfast. An hour later, around 11 one of my host brothers took me out to the city where he showed me around, and then went to a small cafe to get some drinks. It was a good day. Then once we went everywhere he took my to "our" house where my younger host brothers were. Their names are Mikkel, Magnus, and Mads. One is 14,16,18. We chilled there for a little and then my host mom came. I believe she was already there but she was napping because she came back from work. Mads friends came over, and then went downstairs to watch Game of Thrones. I fell asleep at the end. I'm still jetlagged lol. Overall the day was good. For now I'm living with my counselor. When I arrived Melani, who is my counselors daughter was here along with her stepdad. It was around 9am and we were having breakfast. We ate eggs and spinach with water. One thing I noticed was that they ate very healthy lol. After breakfast my counselor allowed me to take a nap. Once I went upstairs to my room I WAS KNOCKED OUUUUUUUUUUT. I took a 3 hour nap and then went downstairs to shower. Then, my counselor took me to visit the city. ESBJERG is sooooooooooo windy. But by far I loooooove it here. Aug 5 - My flight going to Netherlands was so long and uncomfortable. Once I got in the plane I was like I'm gonna watch a movie. Once I was like 10 mintues in to Sleepless, I was like omg I rather watch this in the dark lol. By this time the lights were still on and honeslty watching good movies in the daytime isn't my thing haha. I was feeling kinda of sleepy and to be honest I didn't feel like really watching a movie. So I took about a 20 minute nap. I woke up because it was very loud and people kept walking by. I sat at the very back of the middle section, next to the aisle. The plane was so long and big. It was kind of cool because like most of the people in my section were very loud and they were speaking foreign. Once I arrived to Amsterdam I was finding my way to the gate, and while I was walking I walked passed a girl that I met at the Central States. We walked into the Immigration custom together and went through without any problems. Afterwards, we went to our gate and sat till then. Later on that morning, a girl came up to us from New York and was also an exchange student. Since then we've became good friends. Once we were off our plane we were all nervous to get off! It was the funniest thing because we all had the same emotions and everything. We got our luggage and finally went out the final doors were our families were. MAN WAS I SO NERVOUS! When I saw them the were holding signs and the Denmark flag. My third host family, counselor and an outbound student welcomed in such a sweet way. I felt very welcomed and happy I was finally able to meet them.
Hey guys! Well about a few minutes ago, I landed in Atlanta. My next flight will be in about 2 hours and a half to Amersterdam.
At the moment, I'm sitting jotting down some quick stuff. Before I left Indy, security went well, the only problem was that they were very slow. I didn't have a breakdown when I said goodbye to my parents or sisters. Just like 5 tears and that was it lol. When I arrived here, I was kind of freaking out because my boarding pass didn't have a gate number. So I walked around untill I was able to see the board with the flights. Once I got that problem fixed I literally walked for 45 minutes to find my gate. I had to ride a train (which was pretty cool bc I've never been in a train lol) with several stops. Then I took about 3 elevators. Once I was like at the OTHERRRRRRRRR SIIIIIIIIIIDE of this airport I found these sign with the courses I was in. But anyways, just to make sure I was right I a lady and she guided me to the right direction. For now, I'm gonna watch movies and eat some tacos my momma made me. :) I really wished I could like add music to my blog. Like for example once your subscribed and your in my blog music plays in the background. But anyways, that is not the point.
THE POINT IS... I LEAVE IN 3 DAYS! I started packing yesterday and it was really hard. I couldn't choose what to take and what not. Today I'm going to print a couple of papers and tomorrow once my dad is out of work we're going to drive to south bend for our last payment. Gosh these days are going quick! A couple weeks ago I attended this confrence at Michigan and it was the coolest thing ever! The reason I'm writing this a little late is because my baby sister lost my phone and my house didn't have wifi. But now 2 of those things are fixed, my phone is still lost but I have wifi.
Alright, so day one was decent. I had awkward moments with some kids because I tried making conversation with them but then they just all ended huddling back into their groupies. It wasn't till noon where all the action started and my friend Elizabeth FINALLY ARRIVED. Let's be aware, by this time I wasn't as close as the other members in my district plus we were all scattered around. Our first session parents and students had to go into separate buildings. It's kind of funny because I was walking with my dad, and it wasn't untill I realized I was going the wrong way because there were NO students, so I was like "Oh crap! I'm going the wrong way!" I left almost running because I didn't know what way to go and I was afraid I was going to be late. So as I was walking back, some lady saw I was lost. She then approached me, and started a quick conversation. The first thing she said was like "Oh hey, how are you? Where are you heading," then I responded with something like "Oh I'm lost, I'm suppose to be going with the outbounds students but I can't find my way." When I told her my country she was so excited because she told me her son was going to the same country as me. Afterwards, she told me where to go and there I went. At this small session, it was werid because everyone was talking to each other and there I was... alone. Now, here is something funny I thought I was in the wrong room because there students were talking about Finland and I was like freaking out bc I thought I was in the wrong room. I was like "traga me tierra." I was in the right room, wrong place. I then went to where all the Denmark people were and started conversations with them. Next thing you know, I was having conversation with this one kid, and realized I just met his mom. From there we started talking and throughout the day we started a friendship. The day was pretty chill. Second session was much better/funner. By this time I was already close with the girls in my district and Mike S. SHOUT OUT TO YA'LL :D Before the fun activites we had sessions all day. There was one where we were late because my dad and I seriously couldn't find the Chapel. We walked all around and we were sure we were going to arrive but we never did. It's not that we couldn't read maps, the maps were confusing. It was more like the "it's not you, it's me" type of situation. Except, the me in here was the map. Once we arrived we wanted to sit in the very back of the chapel so we wouldn't catch people attention so we took some stairs thinking it was going to take us to a balcony or something but I accidently opened a door to a classroom where there were people. Another whoopsies. Honestly, I was cherishing those moments because it's not always an everyday thing to do with my dad. It was almost as if I was exploring some jungle or something. The college was pretty big and long. Anyways, after that session there was a soccer and volleyball tournament. At the field, I met this girl from Minnesota, and she was from Colombia. She asked me if I wanted to play volleyball and I said sure. From there then, I played volleyball with many other students and it was so much fun. Afterwards, we started exchanging pins, and that was even cooler! I don't know there was alot going on the second day. To make it a little short after that we had a talent show and then we had a dance party. It was pretty fun, but then I felt a little too tired so I went back to the dorm. I was about to shower and hit the bed but who had one last seesion. It was 12, and we went down the basement where there was another district. Then, the nicest thing happened to me. So Don called me and gave me a cookie with a candle and announced it was my birthday so then everyone started to sing. After that, we all went upstairs and didn't sleep untill 3am. We spent the night just chilling, singing, putting pins in our blazers. It was a pretty chill night. It's crazy how close one can get with a short amount of days. I'm very happy I got to meet these people. It just proves that at the end, everyone is like family. Regardless, from where you come from or who you are.. exchange students will always be there for one another. |
